Ray Didinger

Ray Didinger is a four-time Emmy Award-winning writer and producer whose five-decade career spans newspaper journalism, radio, and television. He covered the NFL for The Philadelphia Bulletin and The Philadelphia Daily News, earning five Pennsylvania Sportswriter of the Year honors. In 1995, he received the Dick McCann Memorial Award, placing his name on the writers' honor roll at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A senior producer at NFL Films, Didinger also wrote the autobiographical play Tommy and Me, which inspired this documentary.

Wide Receiver (1934–2018)
Tommy McDonald was a six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who played twelve NFL seasons, including seven with the Philadelphia Eagles (1957–1963). The 1956 Maxwell Award winner at Oklahoma—where his teams never lost a game—McDonald retired ranked second all-time in touchdown receptions (84) with an extraordinary 17-yard career average per catch. His 35-yard touchdown reception clinched the Eagles' 1960 NFL Championship victory over Green Bay. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998, McDonald delivered what remains Canton's most unforgettable enshrinement speech.
